Investment Required to Become a Helicopter Pilot

Training will cost will depend on whether your goal is a Private or Commercial Licence, and whether you have previous flying experience. Our basic price for the R22 Beta helicopter is $475 per hour and for the Bell 47 is $575 per hour. Discount per 10 hour block is available on request.

The following hours are the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) minimums and may vary depending on the individual and their training schedule.

1. Private Pilot (Helicopter) Licence
If you hold a Fixed Wing Licence.
Minimum 38 hours - $18,050

2. Private Pilot (Helicopter) Licence
If you do not hold a Fixed Wing Licence.
Minimum 50 hours - $23,750

3. Commercial Pilot (Helicopter) Licence
If you hold a Fixed Wing PPL.
Minimum 70 hours - $33,250

4. Commercial Pilot (Helicopter) Licence
No licence held.
Minimum 105 hours - $49,875
